As much as I love applying makeup, I love removing my makeup especially after a long day at work! For the best part of just over a year, I've gone from using just one makeup remover to two - one specifically for my eye makeup and the other for the bulk of my makeup. Recently, I've found myself reaching for The Body Shop Camomile Gentle Eye Makeup Remover which definitely is more on the gentler side..

The Body Shop Camomile Gentle Eye Makeup Remover (£8) aims to gently melt eye makeup away within seconds whilst conditioning the skin around the eye area. It helps leave lashes and lids feeling soft and clean and is suitable for even the most sensitive of skin.

Unlike eye makeup removers that I've used in the past, there is no need to shake the bottle as it's just a clear liquid that is ready for whenever you are. I like to pour a generous amount onto a cotton wool pad before holding it onto my eye for a few seconds and then sweeping away. As the name suggests, it truly is gentle in the sense that it takes a lot more than just a few seconds to remove the bulk of my eye makeup and even then, it makes my eyes water. I find that whilst it does remove eye makeup rather well, it doesn't remove mascara that easily especially stubborn waterproof makeup. I find that no matter how much I apply or how long I hold it onto my eye, I still end up rubbing at my eyes which irritates them. I wouldn't recommend this at all if you wear a lot of eye makeup as you will be there for a short while until it's all removed.

 

L'Oreal Gentle Eye Makeup Remover

As I'm now wearing makeup on a daily basis, I need a good quality makeup remover to remove the bulk of it with a seperate eye makeup remover to remove all my eye makeup. The one that I've been reaching for recently is the L'Oreal Gentle Eye Makeup Remover which may just be the one..

The L'Oreal Gentle Eye Makeup Remover (£3.49) is a blue bi-phase liquid that you have to shake up in order to combine the two liquids. It is enriched with pro-vitamin to gently and effectively remove all traces of eye makeup. As it is so gentle, it is suitable for even the most sensitive of eyes as well as contact lens wearers.

Unlike previous eye makeup removers that I've used in the past, a little shake of the bottle is all that is needed to combine the two liquids together which stay combined for a little longer than most. As it has a cap lid, you can semi control how much to dispense onto a cotton wool pad which means that you won't be wasting quite as much as others. What I love about this particular eye makeup remover is just how well it removes my eye makeup - I like to soak a cotton wool pad before holding it against my eyes for a few seconds before sweeping it away and it will have almost removed all my eye makeup which is incredible! I wouldn't necessarily say that a little goes a long way with this as I do appear to be going through it rather quickly but as it does the job so well, I can't complain. Overall this is a brilliant budget eye makeup remover and is one that I will most definitely be repurchasing. 

Botanics All Bright Micellar Water

If I had to name one step in my skincare routine that I love doing then it would most definitely be removing my makeup! I love nothing more than removing a full face of makeup after a long day of work and I like to really spend my time doing so, ensuring that every last trace is gone. Recently, I've been using the Botanics All Bright Micellar Water to do just the job and I thought I'd share my two cents on it.

The Botanics All Bright Micellar Water (£2.99) is a 3-in-1 cleansing solution that feels as gentle as water on the skin to help dissolve makeup, unclog poes and remove impurities. Just like with the rest of the All Bright range, this contains hibiscus which acts as a mild exfoliator to help brighten up the skin.

I personally like to soak a cotton wool pad in the solution before sweeping it across my face - concentrating mainly on my base makeup before using a seperate makeup remover for my eye makeup. This helps to remove all traces of makeup within a few seconds and as it does the job so well, I don't feel the need to use any elbow grease to scrub it off. After use, my skin can feel a little tight and dry in areas and if I do accidently sweep it across my eyes, it tends to sting a little which I believe is because of the hibiscus. Despite it drying my skin out a little which can be fixed with a little facial oil, this is a brilliant budget makeup remover and I will definitely be purchasing it again!

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

As much as I love applying makeup, I love removing it even more and I enjoy taking my time removing every last trace of makeup before proceeding with the rest of my skincare routine. As I'm trying to stick to my beauty resolutions of spend less, use more; I've been using up products within my stash so recently, I've been using the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water to help remove the bulk of my face makeup.

The Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water (£4.99) which is a simple water solution that helps break down makeup before removing it entirely, leaving the skin clean and refreshed without the hassle of rubbing or rinsing. Unlike most traditional micellar waters, this comes housed in a clear container with a pink pour style cap that many have likened to Bioderma except being a fraction of the price.

I personally like to soak my cotton wool pad and sweeping it across my face - concentrating on my face makeup and then going in with a seperate makeup remover to remove my eye makeup. It literally melts away my makeup within a couple of seconds and I find that I don't need to use any elbow grease at all as it does the job so well. After use, my skin doesn't feel dry or tight like some micellar waters can do but rather it feels refreshed and clean. This is definitely one of the better micellar waters I've tried as it does exactly what it claims to do albeit I'm not too sure on the 200 uses claim as I'm pretty sure it won't last me for that long! I will definitely be repurchasing this as soon as I've used up a few more makeup removers.

Nivea Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover

I've recently found myself experimenting more with my eye makeup and am often rocking a subtle bronze smokey eye to work as I find that it compliments my eyes nicely. This means that I need a good eye makeup remover to remove even stubborn waterproof mascara so I've recently been reaching for the Nivea Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover to do just very that.

The Nivea Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover (£3.59) is a blue bi-phase solution that you have to shake up to combine the two liquids together. The oil phase helps to remove even the most waterproof of eye makeup which has been specially formulated and tested for the sensitive eye area whilst the aqueous phase protects and cares for the lashes, without leaving an oily residue.

As stated on the packaging, you have to shake vigorously to ensure that both liquids are combined. Now between me and you, no amount of shaking will keep the liquids combined as literally a second or two after shaking, the liquids are no longer combined which means that you either have to use a lot of elbow grease to remove your eye makeup or become one of those stealthy people who can quickly shake and pour onto a cotton pad. Even when I've managed to pour some onto a cotton pad and then proceed to remove my eye makeup, it literally doesn't remove much mascara unless I rub my eyes heavily and even then, it leaves the dreaded panda look. Another bug bear is that it states that it won't leave an oily residue which is not true at all! Even the tiniest amount of the stuff leaves my eye area feeling oily and greasy which is not ideal when you're just wanting to take off all your makeup. Overall, this is one of the worst eye makeup removers I've used and I urge everybody to not even bother wasting your money on it.

Nspa Ultimate Cleansing Tonic

I've noticed that the minute I get home, I'm just itching to take off my makeup and apply multiple creams and serums to rehydrate my skin after a long day at work. Most of time, I use two different makeup removers; one of which is aimed specifically at removing eye makeup. However for those times that I can't be bothered to use two different ones, I use the same makeup remover and recently, I've been using the Nspa Ultimate Cleansing Tonic.

The Nspa Ultimate Cleansing Tonic (£5) is a bi-phase makeup remover that you have to shake up to combine the two liquids. It contains a mixture of witch hazel, ginseng and bisabolol which makes removing makeup very quickly without irritating the skin due to it's soothing, hydrating mix. It comes housed in a rather generous 200ml pour style bottle that you can see how much you have left which is very convenient for those of us who tend to use more makeup remover than we'd care to admit.

Unlike some makeup removers that I've tried, I find that this removes makeup rather well in all areas apart from the eyes where it needs a little more elbow grease to ensure that every last trace is removed. I've noticed that if I'm wearing a heavier base which requires a little more makeup remover than normal then it can leave my skin feeling a little tight in areas despite it claiming to be kind to skin. Unfortunately, a little doesn't go a long way so I feel as if I'm going through this at a rapid pace so I won't be repurchasing this anytime soon despite how cheap it is. Although with that being said, it would appear that you can no longer purchase this.

No7 Eye Makeup Remover

Recently, I've found myself rocking eye makeup a lot more frequently which has resulted in using a lot more eye makeup remover to remove it all especially stubborn waterproof makeup. I'm not sure if I'm using too much but I've noticed that I'm going through my current eye makeup remover like there's no tomorrow so whilst I still have a little bit left, I thought I better review it. 

The eye makeup remover in question is the No7 Eye Makeup Remover (£8.50) which is a blue bi-phase solution that you have to shake up to combine the two liquids in order to use. It comes housed in No7's typical packaging - a sleek bottle with a sleeker screw top cap which is both recycable and easy on the eyes.

My first annoyance of this product is how well you have to shake it - you literally have to shake it like your life depends on it in order to combine and use the product as if you don't shake it enough, you wont be able to remove all the eye makeup which will result in more elbow grease and thus rubbing more at the delicate area. My second and last annoyance of the product is that when it comes to putting a bit on a cotton wool pad, you run the risk of pouring it everywhere is there isn't a plastic safety dispenser in it which perhaps is why I'm going through it way too quickly than I'd like. With that being said, I have to literally rub my eyes sore until all traces of my eye makeup have been removed which is rather painful. This is by far one of the worst eye makeup removers I've used and I urge you all to not purchase it.

Botanics All Bright Soothing Eye Makeup Remover

I'm definitely one of those people who are open minded when it comes to buying products especially when some bloggers who I follow religiously and buy their every recommended product say do not buy this. However, I've realised that everybody is different - what may not work for somebody may work brilliantly for somebody else. So when I found out that Botanics have rebranded, reformulated and repackaged their products a few years back; many people declared that the All Bright Soothing Eye Makeup Remover has changed entirely and thus no longer works for them however going in with an open mind, I bought it and have been trialling it for the last few months or so.

The Botanics All Bright Soothing Eye Makeup Remover (£3.99 for 150ml) is a clear bi-phase oil solution that you have to shake up to combine the two liquids in order to use. The clear oil on top helps remove daily grime and makeup including waterproof whilst the bottom aqueuous phase which is given its colour by hibiscus helps to soothe the eye area and condition lashes.

Unlike other eye makeup removers I've tried, this needs a little more elbow grease to remove all eye makeup which is never a bad thing especially when you're wanting to make sure that you've removed it all. I find that after using this, there is a slight oily residue left behind which disappears once you've followed up with a micellar water or a cleanser. I think that it's a bit far fetched for Botanics to claim that this will brighten up the area as I haven't noticed any difference whatsoever whilst using this despite it containing brightening hibiscus which the entire All Bright range contains. Overall, I thoroughly like using this eye makeup remover and once I've gone through the rest of my stash, I will be happily repurchasing this as it's always on offer in Boots.

L'Oreal Skin Perfection Purifying Micellar Solution

L'OREAL SKIN PERFECTION PURIFYING MICELLAR SOLUTION - £4.99

I've never truly understood the hype for micellar waters in particular Bioderma. I guess that's probably because I prefer products that leave a slight residue on my face so that I know that it's doing its job rather than using a product that feels and looks like water. With that being said, it doesn't stop me wanting to try Bioderma but as I don't particularly fancy paying a UK price for it, I've settled instead for L'oreal Skin Perfection Purifying Micellar Solution.

The L'Oreal Skin Perfection Purifying Micellar Solution is  a 3-in-1 solution that feels as gentle as water on the skin but acts as a make up remover, toner and skin soother all in one. Whilst swiftly dissolving all traces of make up, the micellar solution acts like a purifying magnet by drawing out excess oil and impurities on the skin surface. 

The packaging of this truly does suck - it's one of those pour style bottles that seems to pour out a little too much onto the cotton pad which creates both too much product for my liking as well as creating a lot of waste. Despite that, I do find that it works just as good as my beloved Garnier Simply Essentials Soothing 2 in 1 Makeup Remover. It dissolves makeup within seconds and it leaves the skin feeling clean although it can leave my skin feeling a little tight in places. When it comes to eye makeup, it does remove all traces which is good as my current eye makeup remover truly sucks. Although it is a little pricey, I think it's worth it especially when you can get it on offer.

Garnier Fresh Essentials Eye Makeup Remover

GARNIER FRESH ESSENTIALS EYE MAKEUP REMOVER - £3.45

As I am completely besotted with the Garnier Simply Essentials Soothing 2-in-1 Makeup Remover, I decided to pick up the Garnier Fresh Essentials Eye Makeup Remover that is enriched with grape extract. It's a gentle eye makeup remover that promises to remove even the most stubborn-ist waterproof mascara without irrtating the delicate eye contour area.

Now I'm not sure about you but I only wear waterproof mascara when its the summer so I cannot vouch for its removing waterproof mascara properties but it definitely does make removing mascara and liquid eyeliner a breeze. I simply soak a cotton wool pad or two and hold it against my eye for about twenty seconds or so before wiping away and I find that the majority of my eye makeup has been removed. I find that it doesn't irritate my eyes and it leaves them feeling clean and soothed. I would definitely recommend this if you're looking for a gentle eye makeup remover that removes eye makeup easily and effortlessly.

Garnier Simply Essentials Soothing 2 in 1 Make Up Remover

Back at school, I would always remember to take off my make up before bed using make up wipes although there were quite a few occasions where I would forget to do just very that. Nowadays, I reserve make up wipes for the sole purpose of getting foundation off the back of my hand/cleaning up spillages etc and use an actual make up remover to take off the days face. These past few months, I've been using the Garnier Simply Essentials Soothing 2 in 1 Make Up Remover to do just very that and thought that it was about time to share my two cents on it.

The Garnier Simply Essentials Soothing 2 in 1 Make Up Remover is a bi phase product which you have to shake up in order to use. It combines the efficiency of a make up removing oil (blue) with the freshness of a cleansing water (clear) which means that you wont have to rub it over your skin to get the make up off. It's enriched with plant extracts and pro-vitamin B5 which contains no perfume or alcohol which will leave your skin feeling soft and comfortable rather than that dreaded tight feeling.

I personally find this to be a good all rounder when it comes to removing makeup however it does require a little more work when it comes to removing any eye makeup. I only have two slight issues with this product that don't bother me as such but I'm sure that it would bother most. Garnier claim that this does not leave any residue nor does it require any rubbing which is simply not true as this does leave a slight oily residue on the skin and you do have to rub at your face a little especially when it comes to your eyes. Despite this, I will continue to use this and repurchase it until I find something that doesn't require quite as much work.
