Eyelash Boosters

Hi, my name is Amiiee and I used to be an eyelash extension addict. This post has been a long time coming and I'm glad to say that I finally kicked the habit last month (December 2013) which was very hard to do especially when I've grown accustomed to wearing them for the best part of three years. If you don't know what eyelash extensions are they are basically individual/flared lashes that are glued to your real eyelashes that can last for up to six weeks depending on the aftercare. Whilst any sort of extensions will do damage whether it be nails or hair, it's the way that you remove them that causes the most damage and in sometimes permanent damage. I used to pull off the extensions myself which pulled out my real lashes with it and over time, my lashes were becoming brittle and started to thin which resulted in gaps forming. For a little over a month now, I've been using a trio of products that have helped my eyelashes grow back completely and I thought I would share what I've been using.

COCONUT OIL
Coconut Oil is one of those multi use products that you can use for a whole variety of things including cooking, removing makeup/cleansing your skin and as a hair oil. My personal favourite use for this wonder product is applying this to my eyelashes to help condition them. I pick it up cheaply from Superdrug but you can get this from supermarkets and any health stores. I like to apply this whilst it is still in its solid form and by using a spoolie, apply it like its a mascara, applying copious amounts until each individual lash is coated completely. Whilst you wont see results instantly over night, over time the lashes will start to feel thicker, less brittle and look generally a lot healthier.

No7 FANOMENAL LASH SERUM
This is a serum which contains a unique blend of ingredients which gives thicker, fuller, longer lashes in just eight weeks. As it is like a thick felt tip liner, I like to apply it how I would a liquid liner and apply a decent amount to both my top and lower lashes. Whilst this is pricey, the results are definitely worth it and I've noticed that my lashes are beginning to fan out and been using this for just half the recommended time. Combine this with the No7 Fanomenal Lashes Mascara (£12.95) and you've got yourself a lash-tastic boosting duo.

RAPIDLASH
This is by far the most expensive of the three but the only one that is backed up by science with rather interesting results. I like to apply this in the morning before I apply my makeup and use it exactly like a liquid liner, making sure that I only apply it to my top lashes. I won't bore you with the claims and facts it makes as there are enough reviews out there of this for you to read but this has given me the most results. This has transformed my once stubby, brittle lashes into lashes that could rival those of a giraffe - almost! They feel a lot stronger and look healthier than before which has resulted in people asking me if I were wearing eyelash extensions whenever I wore mascara. I will admit that this is a rather pricey invesment and that you don't necessarily need it if you bought either one of the two above but I'm glad that I did invest in it and I would 100% repurchase it without a doubt.

Please note that whilst I've had incredible results from all three, the results may not necessarily be the same for you and with that, I urge you to trial cheaper alternatives before investing in the pricey versions. I am by no means a expert in the matter, I just like to think that I know a bit about it down to trial and error.

  1. I'm regularly preaching the wonders of coconut oil. I apply it as a hair mask and it has made my hair thicker! Really love your blog! xx
